I'm using the Next Wave anthology edited by Jim Johnstone. A few poems have diffs between book and original pub.
There was also a few other words like "gammon" where I needed to consult a dictionary. That final stanza gets me though as well. It reminds me of political cartoons from the early-aughts.

Are you using the book version for the poem? (I don’t have that.) Interesting diffs from the Walrus text.
The flake I can’t swallow, maybe the pill in the sandwich is
